Fifth graders improvise the meeting at Old South Church which set the Boston Tea Party in motion. The students are passionately representing multiple points of view: patriots, loyalists and undecided.
First grade is going to see a play of "Charlotte's Web" at the Flynn in early December. In preparation, they are acting scenes from E.B. White's book. Here is Fern feeding the baby pig Wilbur with a bottle.
2nd grade students chose important scenes to depict from The True Story of The Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf as told to Jon Sciezska. This tableau (or frozen picture) shows the pig in his secure brick house watching the wolf sneezing. I was delighted by their artistic choices.
Students at IAA in grades 3 and 4 have been celebrating National Poetry Month by entertaining classmates at lunch with recitations of favorite poems. Here's one to pique your interest: IAA 5th graders present "Funky Snowman" by by Calef Brown to Dealer.com employees as a thank you for the company's support of arts at the IAA.
Funky Snowman loves to dance. You'd think he wouldn't have much chance without two legs or even pants Does that stop Funky Snowman? No!! Turn up the music with the disco beat, when you're in the groove, you don't need feet. Crowds come out and fill the street. Kick it. Funky Snowman!! |
